Many of the participants in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade are, or are related to, employees of Macy's. Celebrities are sometimes invited to perform at the parade, and employees of companies that sponsor elements of the parade might get to ride the company's float or be balloon handlers. Marching Bands and performance groups are chosen after their directors submit an audition tape to Macy's.
The only thing I can think of is A. the Eaton Santa Claus parade- which is held in Canada on the US Thanksgiving day. I do not know if it still exists. There is definitely a parade-type attraction called the Klausjagen (Claus-Hunt) which is celebrated on December 6 in Switzerland. It honors St. Nicholas- huge Bishop"s Mitres are worn and carried- but has nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas. I accidentally learned of this holiday when in the seventh grade. The Klausjagen is seemingly specific to Switzerland, and the Zurich area.

According to Marching.com, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade route changed in 2009 and will remain the same in 2010: "Beginning at 77th Street and Central Park West, the parade will travel south to Columbus Circle, turn onto Central Park South before making a right turn to march down 7th Avenue to 42nd Street. The parade will then turn east toward 6th Avenue where it will march down the Avenue of the Americas. Shallots might be an item that could show up in a Thanksgiving Day dinner. Shellfish might be another. Shredded cheese might be still another. Shrimp might be yet another.
It would most likely be the day after thanksgiving because on Thanksgiving people and the families get together and be thankful for one another and everything in there life. The day after people might not do anything so they might go to Disneyland.
They might but on a different day and they might call it a different name.
