The ankle joint is the Synnovial Hinge type joint between the two bones of the leg (Tibia and Fibula) and the Tarsal Bone called the Talus. The scientific term for the joint is the Talocrural Articulation and here only one plane of movement occurs, Plantarflexion (flexing downwards) and Dorsiflexion (flexing upwards). The rest of the movents occur between the tarsal bones.
