Westminster Abbey in the UK and the Arc de Triomphe in France were the first locations of monuments dedicated (in 1920) to unknown fallen soldiers. In 1921, the US, Portugal and Italyunveiled their own versions.
There are now more than 30 countrieswith similar memorials.
