The 13 dwarves who journey to Erebor in The Hobbit are: Thorin, Fili, Kili, Balin, Dwalin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Oin, Gloin, Dori, Nori & Ori.
Gandalf (The adventurous Wizard.)
There are thirteen dwarves in the Company of Bilbo Baggins, not two. They are: Nori Dori Ori Dwalin Balin Bifur Bofur Bombur Kili Fili Oin Gloin Thorin
With Gandalf and the dwarf Thorin Oakenshield, and his company of twelve further dwarves.
The Dwarves and the Bilbo Baggins were lost between the Misty Mountains to the west and great forest of Mirkwood to their east, after getting lost in golin caves.
If Gandalf and the dwarves did not show up to rescue him, Bilbo Baggins had a plan to make his way through the tunnels to locate them. However, he is saved from that undertaking when he hears the dwarves and Gandalf talking.
The Took genes, huh? Well they created in Bilbo a certain sense of curiousity, and a love of adventure. It was that sense of adventure that finally got Bilbo to go along with the dwarves on their journey to Smaug's Mountain.
If it is in the Hobbit, it is to get Bilbo started on his adventure. If it is in the Fellowship of the Ring it is to have the ring returned to the mountain to be destroyed.
Bilbo Baggins
I think it was Bilbo Baggins
Which time? By the trolls? That would be Balin. By the spiders? We don't know from the story. By the elves? That would be Thorin.
I think it was Bilbo Baggins
Most certainly not! He is sedentary and set in his ways at home, but has a bit of a yearning for adventure. Afterwards, he is content with his adventures, but still has a wanderlust to go back and see the elves and dwarves.
