Pie graph (or pie chart), used to show a portion of the whole, like Demographics of a population, or percent of expenses that go to payroll, rent, electricity, etc. Sometimes seeing that a certain piece of data takes a big chunk of the 'pie' or a small 'sliver' can have more meaning rather seeing the 'raw numbers'.
Bar graph: Could show actual values of a quantity for each time period. Can see a trend over time.
