The protocols are supported by the IPP native Cups Protocols.
PSD is native Photoshop format and supports most of Photoshop editing capabilities. You can send to some (not to all) printing companies PSD files. Otherwise save file for printing purpose as PDF or TIFF.
Apple share allows you to share files from xserver to Apple workstations through various protocols. AFP (Apple File Protocol) is native and has both ACL and POSIX file control, other protocol varies. Wikipedia has a nice little explanation as well.
Tcp/ip
There's no native build for it. But you can get it running on ubuntu using WINE which i don't recommend. But the default chat client that comes with Ubuntu is way more better(Empathy). It supports multiple protocols as well as audio+video streaming(webcam), filesharing etc.
