The Directory which was the Constitutional government.
Reign of terror left the french people want a leader that wasn't a king.
The last Queen was NOT Marie Antoinette as many people think but Marie Amelie- or translated, Marie Amelia. Marie Amelia died somewhere in the l840"s. if Empresses of the French are considered. Eugenie- widow of Napoleon III, lived until l920 when she died in Spain. She WA natively Spanish, being born Eugenie di Montijo. It is true that Marie Antoinette was the last Queen of the Bourbon line- executed in l792 .
First of all, I would like to comment on the question itself. The Russian Revolution of 1917 was not one man seizing control, but a popular uprising of the Russian people against the Tsar headed by Vladimir Lenin (the leader of the Bolsheviks, or Communist Revolutionaries) and Leon Trotsky (commander of the Red Army). After Lenin became the leader of the Russian Provisional Government, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was formally established. This was a grouping of states including Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and others. The Soviet Union became a self declared Socialist state (Socialist implying equal pay, fair hours, free education, etc). However, the political and economic situation deteriorated rapidly following Lenin's death, as a power struggle took place between Leon Trotsky and Joseph Stalin. Stalin took power with disastrous consequences.
Frodo failed, he could not destroy the ring, it took control of him and he claimed ownership of it (attracting Sauron's attention). It took Gollum biting off Frodo's ring finger and falling into the "Cracks of Doom" to destroy the One Ring.
The Normans sailed from France, from Normandy, made famous today by D-Day which took place on June 6, 1944. The Normans under William I also known as William the Conqueror, had a claim to the English throne and when it was rejected to him, he took his case to Pope Alexander II who supported Williams invasion of England.
Longer than it took to read it.
napoleon
Napoleon Bonaparte, who called himself Emperor Napoleon I, ruled France from 1804 until 1814.
After Napoleon abdicated himself from the thrown in France in 1814, Louis XVIII came to the thrown. But Louis XVIII fled from France when Napoleon took back the thrown in 1815 for what was known as the "Hundred Days" campaign.
Napoléon Bonaparte took control of France in November 1799.After the coup d'état of 18 Brumaire (9-10 November 1799) a new form of government took the place of Directory. It was called the Consulate and was set up of three Consuls: Cambacères, Lebrun and Napoleon Bonaparte. Soon Bonaparte was recognized as First Consul and virtually took the control of France.
First consul
He took over France shortly after the revolution.
Napoleon III became Emperor of France in 1852. He was the nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte. He was initially elected President of the French Republic, but when the French Parliament prevented him from running for re-election, he organized a coup d'état and took control of the country.
After seizing control of the Assembly, the radicals wrote a new declaration of rights and constitution modeled after the USA.
He was part of a coup that took over the French Government.
He escaped from exile in Elba and took over.
Napoleon was appointed First Consulate by Sieyles a counter-revolutionist who sought to use Napoleon the war hero as a pawn. Napoleon took advantage of his position and held a coup d'etat making himself consul for life and later emperor. Those who were against the revolution were quick to throw their support behind Napoleon, hoping for restoration of order.
Napoleon then took control of the rest of Western Europe, the Iberian Peninsula and the north of Italy. His attempt at Russia failed and he was constantly at war with Great Britain. He did nothing to fix the internal issues that had a hand in causing the French Revolution.
