No, there are not any natural remedies for Diabetes. However, there are some natural remedies for symptoms of diabetes, some of which can be safe and helpful. Please ask your doctor before starting any of these alternative therapies.

The treatment for most diabetics includes diet, exercise, and either oral diabetes medicine or insulin (or sometimes both). There is no natural substitute for oral diabetes medication or insulin.

Please see your doctor for treatment and follow their carefully ordered medication regimen. Not taking your diabetes medication can cause severe complications, or even death.

It isn't so much medicine that's going to control your blood sugar (unless you're diabetic and need insulin) but diet. "The New Glycemic Revolution" will teach you how to eat in a manner that won't create wild fluctuations in blood sugar by controlling the type and amount of carbohydrates you ingest. The typical American diet is largely based on refined carbohydrates and refined sugar, which includes practically all prepared packaged--the food in the "center aisles" of the supermarket, and fast foods. Control your blood sugar now, through diet and exercise, and avoid diabetes later in life: diabetes, like Heart disease, starts when we're young, it's the effects that we notice after a lifetime.

When it comes to Type 1 Diabetes, there isn't a natural remedy. Type 1 is an autoimmune diease where beta cells attack the person's pancreas, essentially rendering it defective.

As for type 2, which is what I have, it is quite possible that a responsible diet and exercise will keep it at bay.

When I became a type 2, I was a grossly 309 pounds when I went into ketosis and dropped to 240 pounds in just 60 days.

Since my diagnosis, it took a while for me to get used to my medication, Metformin. Since then, I've followed my low-carbohydrate diet to the letter and began to exercise - and my endocrinologist has since had to lower my medication dosage as I've had too many instances where I've gone near-hypoglycemic...and that's a good thing.

In short: follow a low-carb diet and exercise regularly. If you're not a diabetic, but possibly on the borderline, hopefully it'll keep it at bay.

A natural way to control one's blood sugar is avoiding extreme highs and lows by eating five small meals throughout the day instead of three large meals. One should also choose healthy foods (generally avoiding sugary sweets and refined carbohydrates) and know about vegetables and fruits which should be avoided, for example starchy vegetables like potatos, corn and eggplant or sugary tropical fruits like pinapple or mango.
