Signs of an infected piercing
Redness, discharge of green puss, swelling, tenderness and possible warm to the touch. The quickest way to resolve an infected piercing is to irrigate the piercing under warm running water while moving the jewellery back and forth through the piercing allowing the water to rinse the jewellery off. If you are using after care products to clean your piercing cease using all of them (this way we can find out if the aftercare product is causing the problem). Irrigating the piercing twice a day under warm water while moving the jewellery will rinse the puss and other matter out of the piercing. Once you have completed the rinsing, dry the piercing with clean tissue and leave it alone, don't apply anything else to the piercing. This should resolve and infected piercing within 24 to 48 hours.
-yellow/green discharge from piercing -pain or tenderness around the piercing -red, purple, or yellowish discoloration around piercing
Some people scar but i didnt It was Red for a while though, but a couple weeks after i got it it went back to normal
if you have only recently had your navel pierced it is still healing and will hurt for up to the next 4 weeks, it should be kept clean to avoid infection. if it has been over 4 weeks and it still hurts, check for reddness around the area. if it is not red you may have just caught it on something. If it is red, check for any discharge from around the piercing, if that is also present seek medical advice
Actually not long at all. See it's the clothing and shirts and other layers that cause irritation to the navel piercing. If the piercing were done and left uncovered except for sleeping (bed sheets etc.) the piercing would look not bad maybe a very small red circle around the top exit point. So redness comes with the territory of clothing and irritation, this can be expected for a period of 3 to 6 months depending on the weather and the amount of clothing you wear over the navel. Remember regardless of what anyone tells you who isn't a professional body piercer navel piercing take a good year to heal and become seasoned* (* toughened up). So be nice to it and when possible give it all the fresh air you can.
If they piercing had not fully healed before you took the jewellery out it could become infected. If the inital piercing had healed, the soreness and redness should go do on its own. You can help it by using ice, and keeping the area clean.
Rendess will come and go through the healing process whit a navel piercing, any time the piercing is covered or subjected to irritation from clothing there will be redness. It doesn't mean that there's an issue just that it's a piercing that is irritated, so floppy shirts, loose clothing aroung the piercing and as much fresh air as possible during the healing process will minimize the redness you will encounter.
depends where you piercing is
it is normal to be sore and have a slight red tone to the surface of the skin after a piercing. There are pain receptors and nerve endings where the piercing lies....as long as there is no pus, swelling and severe pain you should be fine. give it about 3 weeks for 100% healing time.
3 to 6 months, depending on how it looks. If after 3 it looks nice and has no puss or discharge you can change it. If it still looks red or infected, I would wait another month or two.
