get the serial numbers off the side of the engine block, should be just below the freeze plugs on either the passenger side or drivers side of the block.
Need to know the engine size.
try to get a chiltons repair manual at the library for 66 chevy's or check with your local chevy dealer to see if they have any info on it.
you will need V8 motor mounts and a bigger radiator.
Need to know which engine and which transmission.
Need to know what make and engine this 1972 is.
The 1970 Chevy Chevelle came with a 6 cylinder, all the way up to a 454 V8. If you have the 396 or 454 you need to use Premium Fuel. All other engines can run on Regular.
To swap a 350TH for a 700R transmission in a 1972 Chevelle, you'll need to remove the existing 350TH by disconnecting the driveshaft, exhaust, and any linkage, then unbolting the transmission from the engine and dropping it. Next, prepare the 700R by installing a compatible crossmember and modifying the driveshaft length if necessary. Ensure you have the correct TV cable setup for the 700R, and finally, fill it with fluid and check for proper operation before taking the car for a test drive.
It all depends on the shape it's in and what engine and options on it, you need to get it appraised.
As long as the 350 is a fuel injected engine / TBI / Throttle Body Injection engine there is NO difference.
No a 1972 Chevy pickup is not the same model as a 1973 Chevy pickup. I believe it goes from 1967-1972, 1973-1980, 1981-1987. Doors will work from 1973-1976, 1977-1987. You would need to find 1972 doors as they are the only ones taht will fit a 1972. 1967-1971 are the same but there is something different about 1972 doors.
