Detectives V.Heffernan, F. Malurba, A. Nolan, D. McCann from the 23 squad were assigned to pick up Robles that night. They were also the ones He shot in the stairwell several days earlier.It was Heffernans case so when the plan was devised He was the one who was supposed to go in first on the "Crash". Unbeknownst to the Detectives there was a" Fox Lock" on the apartment door, valuable time in breaching the apartment was lost, Robles was alerted and began firing through the door. Detective Heffernan and a Detective Sergeant frpm the 23rd squad were wounded. Detectives Malurba, Nolan And McCann pulled the two fellow officers to safety as they fired back through the door. The rest is History.
