The eldest Underground stations in London would be the ones that were part of the Metropolitan Railway when it opened in 1863. Among these are Baker Street, Great Portland Street and Edgware Road stations, as well as a number of others.
The Circle Line and Central Line run between these two stations.
The Tube. Some of the tubes lines have nicknames too such as the Northern Line (the misery line) and Waterloo and City (the drain).
Leicester Square and Covent Garden (Piccadilly Line) are only 250 yards apart. This five-minute walk is also the most popular Tube journey with tourists. The journey between the two stations is almost certainly the quickest on the network, but the official Tube map reveals that Embankment station is only 100m from Charing Cross mainline station, which is also on the Northern Line. Bank and Monument in the square mile are in fact two ends of the same Tube station.
Waterloo & City line with 2 stations.
The central line tube is part of the London underground train network. It travels at around 20.5 miles per hour when approaching stations.
