Nuclear power as a non renewable source?
It is because it runs out
Nuclear power is power derived from nuclear reactions. As the resources necessary for these reactions are non-renewable, neither is the product, nuclear power renewable. Quite simply, radioactive isotopes necessary for nuclear fission (which provides current nuclear power) are a finite, non-replenishing resource, and, as such, they are non-renewable. Renewable power is power captured which is naturally generated and would otherwise be 'wasted', and any other power sources are considered non-renewable.
Over 85% of the energy used in the world is from non-renewable supplies. Most developed nations are dependent on non-renewable energy sources such as fossil fuels (coal and oil) and nuclear power. These sources are called non-renewable because they cannot be renewed or regenerated quickly enough to keep pace with their use.
Renewable resource means something that can never finish. for example wood is a renewable source, so we can keep growing trees to get more wood. but for example coal, when we use up all the coal in the world, it will take millions and millions of years to get more coal, this is non- renewable energy. types of renewable energy are : wind power, solar panels/cells, bio fuel, geothermal power, wave energy, tidal power, and…
Once fossil fuels have been used up, they can not be replaced, as they took millions of years to naturally develop. Therefore, they are classed as non-renewable. This is why people are trying to find alternatives that are renewable - nuclear power stations, wind farms, tidal and hydroelectric generating schemes, etc.
India is the fourth largest producer of electricity, but some people in India still do not have access to electricity. 88% of their power plants use non renewable fuel and 12% use renewable fuel. Thermal, hydroelectric and renewable, and nuclear power are used, with nuclear being the fourth-largest source after the others listed. India is a leader in wind generation and number one in terms of solar energy production per watt installed.
