What does nvidia geforce 9400m 9600m gt with 512mb mean on a MacBook Pro?
There are two separate video cards on the newer MacBook Pros. One (the 9400m) is for everyday graphics and requires less power. The 9600M GT has its own memory (512mb) and is a high-end graphics card for gaming, etc.

I reccommend you buying the Nvidia Geforce 9600M 512mb Graphics card that will get it up to 5.0 and it costs about 250-300 dollars, its awesome for gaming too if that's what you want it for, good luck.

ATI/AMD 6370m, 6450m, 5470m, mobility 4570 & 3670. Nvidia 410m, GT 320m, 220m, 120m, are a little better, most ddr2 cards like 9600m GS, 9500m GS, 8600m GT etc are worse.
