Since the Engine is transverse mounted it is on the front of the engine just left of center. Hope This Helps.

The filter snaps onto the bottom of the black cap with the point on the filter facing down. The black cap will be facing up at you. Most newer Chevy Cavalier's have a paper oil filter, located on the TOP of the engine normaly on the driver's side.

get under the car in front part of the motor and look up
it is on top of the block you have to use a 1 inch wrench to get the black cap off
