On a 1985 Chrysler 5th ave with a 318 v8. it hesitates only from a dead stop when i give it to much gas but is fine no matter how much gas i give it at higher speeds. what could be the problem?

Are you talking about when you are pumping the pedal really fast? If so, that is a fairly common problem. You might be able to solve the problem by turning up the idle on the carburetor.
