Well simply put the powertrain control module controls all aspects of the engine and transmission from injector duty cycle to shift points in the trans and what it doesnt do directly there are other modules for that are controlled by it such as the glow plug relay or IDM (injector driver module) and such generally in a 95 7.3 power stroke if you have a bad pcm when you try to start it the check engine light wait to start and other such lights will generally fail to illuminate if you have simply a no start situation it is best to check the idm for failure first as they are a known issue the breather on the IDM rots away and water can and will invade the IDM and destroy it. hope this helps Sincerly RavenASC
