man: under the brake master cylinder
Auto: there is a dipstick to check the tranny fluid. It doubles as the inlet for more fluid
A little more information please ( what model of 1999 Ford , automatic or manual transmission , what size of engine )
you more than likely will not have a dipstick on any manual transmission. most of them do not need fluid that needs regular service.
DependsDepends on what you mean by a little. If you put more than a couple of ounces, then you need to have the transmission fluid completely changed. Not just the pan but the entire system. An ounce or 2 will do no harm.
Check transmission fluid level, if you do not have enough add more fluid (do not mix synthetic and organic). Smell the fluid, if it smells burned or has opaque color: you must change it.
3 speed automatic transaxle holds 7.0 quarts 4 speed automatic transaxle holds 9.5 quarts for a manual transmission 2000 and older 2.0 quarts 2001 and newer 1.8 quarts these numbers are aprproximate you may need to add more if necessary. fluid you should use for automatic transmission and manual transmission for cars 2000 and newer should be dextron IIE or dextron III (ATF). fluid for manual transmission for car 1995 throught 1999 should be syncromesh transmission fluid the gm part number is:12345349
need way more information
If the automatic transmission indicator light is illuminated on your 1999 Pajero, it typically indicates an issue with the transmission system. This could be due to low transmission fluid levels, a faulty sensor, or a problem with the transmission itself. It's advisable to check the fluid level first, and if that’s not the issue, have a qualified mechanic diagnose the problem to avoid further damage. Ignoring the light could lead to more significant transmission issues down the line.
Yes and I would suggest the sooner the better, no later then 50,000 miles. If it is more then this you will need to do it twice. The first time is to flush it clean. You are looking at $150 - $300 to have this done. The transmission is weak on the Vue.
== == Depending on the type of manual transmission you have (MUA, RMN, or Borg-Warner T5), a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo (4 cyl or V6) will require either Synchromesh fluid, or Dexron III (yes, that's technically automatic transmission fluid, but certain manual transmissions such as the Borg Warner T5 actually do call for DEXIII ATF). MUA or RMN transmissions: Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid, 5W30 viscosity. It's a light amber-colored fluid.. Synchromesh fluid is also available in other brands, such as Pennzoil, Royal Purple, and GM. Vehicles with MUA or RMN transmissions will need 3.15 quarts of fluid. Borg Warner T-5 transmission: Dexron III ATF. This is a reddish colored fluid. Vehicles with this type of transmission will need 2.2 quartsof fluid. Your next question is probably, "So how do I know which type of transmission I have?" In our experience, the MUA transmission has been more common. However, you'll want to verify; perhaps you can call the dealership with your VIN number and they can decode what type of transmission you have. Perhaps someone with more experience or resources can chime in...
There is not an external transmission fluid reservoir - fluid is added through the dipstick tube.See "Related Questions" below for more
I just replaced a 2001 Saturn automatic transmission for about $2500. Wasn't a salvage transmission, so it cost a good bit more.
Check the transmission fluid level, if it's not enough add more fluid.
