One drawback in a monarchy government is that the ruler can have absolute power and use it to their own advantage while disregarding the needs of the people. Since the ruler is not chosen and just stays in the family it may not be able to change.

In a constitutional monarch the king/queen is probably slightly more expensive than a president, and people can't throw them out if they are no good
