In what Terms ? Definition of Handicapped USAGE In the middle decades of the 20th century handicapped was the standard term used in reference to people with physical and mental disabilities. However by the 1980s it had been superseded, in British English, by disabled. It is now regarded as dated, if not actually offensive. So the question is, Is the hand considered a disability... ( Defintion. A physical or mental condition that limits a person's movements, senses, or activities. Now this depends on many factors, according to the British Arm you need two hands to join up. The definition of a hand is a Thumb and a trigger finger (so you can hold a gun and shoot someone....) so if the hand does not have these two digits and the person wants to get into the arm then this is a disability... The hand is stopping the person from doing what they want to do therefore is a disadvantage his hand is limiting their actives.... The big problem is peoples prejudice's against what is believed to be normal, this in itself disables people... So the short answer is no unless the hand brings the owner any disadvantage, then it becomes a disability.
