Louisa May Alcott [November 29, 1832-March 6, 1888] wrote Little Women [1868-1869], about the lives of four sisters. In the book, the four March sisters were ka Josephine, Margaret, Elizabeth, and Amy Curtis. They were somewhat based on Alcott's life with her own three sisters: Anna Bronson Alcott Pratt [March 16, 1831-July 13, 1893], as Meg; Elizabeth Sewall Alcott [June 24, 1835-March 14, 1858], as Beth; and Abigail May Alcott Nieriker [July 26, 1840-December 29, 1879], as Amy. Alcott followed the fortunes of her fictionalized family through two sequels: Little Men [1871], and Jo's Boys [1886].
