All living things undergo the 7 life processes (I learnt it as MRS. NERG in school)

Movement, Reproduction, Sensitivity, Nutrition, Excretion, Respiration and Growth.

Without any one of these, something isn't living.

The simple equation for respiration is: Oxygen + Energy (from food etc.) reacts to form Carbon Dioxide + Water

So if you don't have energy, you can't respire, you can't live.

Energy is the basic driving force behind nearly everything an organism does. Whether it is running, inhaling, or sleeping, some amount of energy is required. As Stephen Hawking once said, humans are nothing more than organic robots. As such, just as a robot must have a power source in order to do anything, so must any organic lifeform.

Organisms need energy for functioning the body itself. Organisms keep you healthy as much as possible and also help your diet, actions, and blood flow. Without energy, you would almost be dead.
