Run a compression test. When engines overheat the head(s) often warp causing the head gasket to blow. If you find low compression between any two cylinders OR if any of the sparkplugs are wet with water or coolant as you do the compression test, it's the head gasket and warped head.
BTW, that's one of the most common problems that shows up after an engine has overheated.
Could. The only way to tell (in my opinion) is to bring it to a shop and have them diagnosis it which would be $70-80 bucks, but overheating an engine will cause the engine to fail. Heat is the engine's number one enemy.
Check engine codes, check for spark, check for compression, check fuel pressure, etc.

On the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the push button start, just press the engine start button without foot on brake, then press the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 secs, then press the the engine start button once more. The display will go into accessory mode. then simply push start button again to turn accessory off, then start vehicle normally. The change oil message should now be gone. I did this and it worked first time.
It did not have one from the factory. If it has one now, it is an add on kit.
A very big deal and costly if you try it yourself and mess up. It's normally refereed to as a head job. Now get your mind out of the gutter, if you can.
I asked a sunroof repair shop the same question in my area. I have a 97 Grand Cherokee limited with sunroof, and the weather stripping around it has deteriorated. Unfortunately, the repair shop said I would have to replace the entire glass for about $1000!!! If you find another answer, please let me know. Otherwise, I can live with it for now.
Blown head gasket.

Try replacing the camshaft sensor. Sounds exactly like the problem I experienced.
Using the ignition key, lock and unlock the drivers door. This resets the car alarm which disables the ignition. The car will now start.

If the car overheated, you may have warped the aluminum head. You may have to have the head shaved and a new head gasket put in.

That would depend on the size of your camper. I have a small pop up camper and used my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee (V6) to tow it from Chicago to Yellowstone and back. I will never do that again. I now have a 1995 Grand Cherokee (V8) that tows it with no problem.
It is failing, you need a new car.
