PC stands for "Personal Computer". At present, this term refers to the fact that the device can be operated by any individual without having to possess much computer/software knowledge as it was in the past. It can include desktop computers as well as laptop computers and tablet computers. The software is another thing, although closely related. It includes things like operating systems--Windows, MAC, etc.--which are necessary for the computer to work and perform. Other software are programs like Microsoft Office, CD-ROM games, etc. that can add to the computer's task abilities or simply add to the entertainment that it provides. In the past, a PC user had to create his or her own programs in order for the computer to operate. Now, operating systems and the rest of the software facilitate the process of using a computer and this is why the term PC is now more vast, as I mentioned in the beginning.
