It is of course a matter of opinion but my vote would be the whole album of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. Especially Time, Great gig in the sky and Dark side of the Moon.
That was actually 3 different backing singers on The Dark Side of the MoonAnswerClare Torry is actually credited with the vocals on The Great Gig In the Sky.
Rachel Brannock may refer to the session vocalist who toured with Pink Floyd between 1987 and 1989 under the stage name Rachel Fury. She is probably best known for her vocal performance of "The Great Gig In The Sky" on the Delicate Sound Of Thunder tour as well as for her duet with lead guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour on the track "Comfortably Numb" (on that same tour). Brannock had been introduced to the band by notable producer James Guthrie who was in a relationship with her around the mid 1980's. Brannock has been the subject of much speculation in the Pink Floyd fan community as to just what happened to her after her engagement with Pink Floyd. It has been suggested that Brannock has not performed as a vocalist since aprox. 1995 and may have become an animal rights activist. This however, remains unconfirmed. A Facebook page for the Brannock family includes a photo of Rachel Brannock from her time with Pink Floyd.
No one is really sure, but there are two possible theories. One is that it was used when someone was referring to a "gambling bet" or undertaking which then came to refer to music. Another idea is that is originated from the French word gigue which means to dance and later it came to mean what the word gig means today, more specifically related to music, but also used for other jobs that one does not care too much for in a certain sense.
He was the genuis behind the pink Floyd keyboards. For writing masterpeices like 'summer 68' 'us and them' 'the great gig in the sky' 'burning bridges' and many more roger waters was the brain, Richard wright was the soul
If you start "Dark Side of the Moon" on the 3rd lions roar in the beginning (MGM logo) of the movie, and smoke enough dope, you'll be amazed at how the music seems to go along with the movie. Try it, it's true. Of course, if you smoke enough dope and listen to Meddle and stare at a wall, you'll be equally amazed!
A group of musicians put together by musician Scott Page. Scott is an accomplished saxophone player for groups such as Pink Floyd, TOTO, James Brown, Chuck Berry and Steve Miller. The groups members are often determined by who is available at the time of the gig. Steve Lukather is a frequent. Last gig I was at Kenny Lee sat in. The music is as eclectic as you get, spanning many genres and generally the songs are called out by the band members as they go. It's the equivalent of sitting in on the tightest jam-session you've ever heard. If ever you get the chance to see them, you will not be let down.
