Thwaite is a village in the Yorkshire Dales. Carlton Husthwaite is in North Yorkshire, near Thirsk. Also there's a Linthwaite in West Yorkshire, Slaithwaite in West Yorkshire and Yockenthwaite in North Yorks. Bassenthwaite is in the Lake District of Cumbria.

The name "Thwaite" comes from Old Norse, meaning 'clearing, meadow or paddock'.
