Leafgreen is the codename for the remake of the original Green version on Gameboy. Green wasn't released outside of Japan so Leafgreen is seen as the international release of Green version. Green was released internationally but it was released as Pokemon Blue version instead. To keep the original games intact the development for the remakes of Red and Green version were chosen instead of Red and Blue version. A remake of Blue version was not made as it shares everything with Green.
