Probably anything you want, Because the whole purpose of Pokemon is creating a unique team of monsters that you can befriend. But if you want pointers, try to get good type coverage, avoid a common weakness (like don't use 4 grass types) and try to avoid planing really late or Gimmicky Pokemon into your team. Lots of Pokemon can only be got really late into the game, so don't plan on having Mewtwo or Moltres on your in-game team. If you try getting all your main team Pokemon at the end, Then you'll go through most of the game with a team of one Starter and HM slaves, and getting them up to level will be very difficult. Also, just avoid Gimmicks. No Dittos.
