Cut the PVC pipe at a convenient location near the bad fitting into the pump. Remove the fitting from the pump housing or discharge side of the pump. Thread in the proper size MIP to slip fitting, cut about a 4" to 6" piece of PVC pipe ( or long enough to seat into the Mip fitting and at the other end seat into a 90 elbow. The straight piece of pipe may have to be adjusted to fit into the 90 that comes from the other connecting pipe). You may glue these pieces together using the PVC cement primer prior to using the PVC cement. Connect your 90 onto these pieces you have just fit and glued being sure it lines up with the existing old pipe. cut about a 3 to 4" section of pipe and glue the 90 and the short pipe to the previous - making sure all pipes line up in direction and height. Cut another 4" or so pipe and glue into the remaining end of the 90. Add a PVC union to this newly built pipe- being sure you don't glue the separating parts of the union - now add a coupling to the old PVC and glue. Now cut to measure the remaining section of PVC pipe - being sure you allow for both ends of the PVC to seat properly. Glue as needed on both ends. Be sure to clean the burrs off the cut pipe sections.

Inventory:

1 ea. 1.5" or 2" MIP X slip fitting

1 ea. 90 PVC S x S

1 ea. PVC union S x S

1 ea. PVC coupling S x S

x x feet of PVC pipe

hack saw

glue

primer

By the time you pick up your tools and clean the area and have a beer, the job should be ready to start the pump. Prime the pump if needed.

The union facilitates access if you need to take the pump apart in the future - you don't have to cut the pipe. Test for leaks. I also do not know the configuration of the piping so lengths of pipe are only estimates.

What is a pool vacuum leak?

A pool vacuum leak could mean that there is a leak in the vacuum hose that you use to vac the pool. Or it could mean that there is a leak on the suction side of the pump. It could be located somewhere between the skimmer and the inlet of the pump. At the pump it could mean that there is a leak at the pump seal or the pump lid or a pump gasket. Some of these leaks will not produce water at those leaks they may only suck air into the system. k

Why does the pressure in my Hayward DE filter lose Pressure so quickly?

Have you maintained the water level in the pool? Could be a suction leak. Check the pump lid gasket for correct fit. Have you emptied the pump or skimmer baskets lately? Ken

How can I increase pool pump pressure effectively?

To increase pool pump pressure effectively, you can try cleaning or replacing the pool filter, checking for any clogs in the pump or pipes, adjusting the pump speed or impeller size, and ensuring proper water level in the pool. Regular maintenance and proper adjustments can help improve pump pressure.

If you have an inground swimming pool system that has an air leak and the pressure is 12 psi with no water leaks how can you find out where the air is coming from?

Do you have air bubbles coming back to the pool thru the return lines? If so, you have a suction leak. Could be between the skimmer, maindrain, at the pool pump. Most likely place to start is the pump. Check the lid o-ring for proper seat and fit. Check the pump seal. Check any fitting that goes into the pump pot - in and out plumbing plus small plugs at the base of the pump. K

What is the porpose of a Leak detection pump pressure switch?

The purpose of a leak detection pump pressure switch is to immediately alter the system to pressure drop. These are most commonly associated with seal or valve failure.

What can happen if you don't fix a leak in your pool lines?

In the first place you Will continually loose water. however if it is a pressure line there is the risk that eventually the leak will suddenly expand and cause you too loose all the pools water without you being there to see what is happening that in turn wil lead to wrecking the pool pump.

Where is the leak detection pump pressure switch located on Chrysler Sebring?

The leak detection pump pressure switch is located next to the service vacuum supply. It will be connected to the LDP filter and below the EVAP canister.

Is it possible for a hydrostatic valve to leak pool water only when the pump is not running?

YES THERE IS A LOT OF TRASH THAT CAN GET IN THE VALVE TO MAKE IT LEAK. YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO CLEAN IT FURTHER I found that with the pump running, the pool water was rising as apparently the pump was pulling water out of the ground. This was with the pool water low and the skimmer plugged off in order to try to filter after a bad storm. When I shut off the pump, the pool water went down as the valve did not seat properly.

Can a power steering pump leak because of over fill or cold weather?

Yes, a power steering pump can leak because of overfill or cold weather. As the seals are damaged due to pressure from overfill or due to freezing, the pump can leak.

Is it normal to have air in the return lines if the pipe pressure is OK and the skimmers are full of water?

I think it could be normal, if the pool is not losing water. On my filter and pump, I have a valve, that when open, causes bubbles to come out of the low end jets, simulating the jets of a jacuzzi. When closed, there are no bubbles. If the pool is losing water, then the appearance of bubbles in the pump, or coming out of the jets could be due to air from from the outside which would mean a leak in one or more of the lines or at the fittings. Also, I'm curious as to how one would "pressure check" a return line from the skimmer, the main drain or vacuum line since these wouldn't be under pressure from the pump. If your pool is blowing air back into the pool through the return lines, it is caused by an air leak, on the suction side of the pump. Because the pump is above the water level of the pool, you will not lose any water. To check to see if you are sucking air at the pump, turn the pump on and take some dish detergent and squirt it along each plumbing fitting in front of the pump. Watch to see if any soap bubbles form in the pump housing. If so, you'll probably need to to replace those fittings, one of them is leaking. ANSWER:: The leak discussed above could involve both in and out fittings on the pump or it could be a leaking pump seal or a loose pump lid or lid gasket. The probable cause of this leak at the fittings is that the pump ran dry at some point in time causing the PVC fittings to become hot and shrink. Pressure testing of the return lines involves plugging those lines at the pool and and pump. The people who do this sort of thing have a tool or tools to insert in the system and introducing air into those lines monitoring pressure loss in each particular line through a process of elimination. What would cause bubbles to form in my pool?

Bubbles in a pool can form due to air getting trapped in the water circulation system, a leak in the pool plumbing, or a malfunctioning pool pump or filter.

What is the formation of vapor bubbles in the impeller of the pump?

It is most likely caused by a leak on the suction side (or the front) of the pool pump. If you are getting bubbles coming out of the returns in the pool itself, then this is most certainly the case. You can run a waterhose over the plumbing and see if it stops or not, That will tell you also where the leak is.
