Blue jays, being larger and more aggressive, may outcompete golden-cheeked warblers, leading to decreased populations of the latter in areas where blue jays are prevalent. Additionally, the presence of blue jays could increase predation risk for the more vulnerable golden-cheeked warblers, further contributing to their decline in such habitats.
