well i think a positive thing is that it stops water from coming in a close city or town. i negative thing is that it could crush or the water could be to much for the structure to hold and there wouldn't be enough space for all the water.

What is the purpose of a floodway?

A floodway is designed to allow for the controlled flow of floodwaters during periods of heavy rainfall or snowmelt. It helps to mitigate flooding by directing excess water away from populated areas and infrastructure, reducing the risk of property damage and loss of life. Floodways are typically engineered to handle specific flow capacities and are an important component of flood management strategies.
