whats the problem?
Wrong kinda locks. Locks need to be upright.
Are you not able to open the door manually with a key?
yes, they do on my 02.
Yes, you can replace a door from a 2004 Monte Carlo to a 2002 Monte Carlo, as both models share a similar platform. However, there may be minor differences in features, such as wiring for power windows or locks, that could require adjustments. It's advisable to check for compatibility in terms of color, trim, and any electronic components before proceeding with the swap.
inside of the door of the Monte Carlo there are two tan wires, a larger one, a smaller one, a blue wire, and a black, try to get some shrink rubber for wires or electrical tape either one, I prefer the rubber all you need to do is put it on one end before tieing the two wires each together and then take a lighter and heat the rubber and it will shrink around the exposed wires. When you put the door trim back on the locks will work I recently worked on a 1992 Monte Carlo with the exact problem.
The dealer can update the body computer to fix that problem.
check the door lock master switch usually that is the problem
on a 97 lumina / Monte Carlo, there is a black wire with a plastic connectere in the right hand side (passenger) of the trunk. ground it out by touching it to metal, bam! you will hear the door locks reset
The door of an 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS typically weighs around 50 to 70 pounds, depending on the presence of additional components such as windows, locks, and wiring. The exact weight can vary based on whether it's a coupe or a different variant and the materials used. For precise measurements, it’s best to consult a service manual or manufacturer specifications.
I'm having the same problem. Relays working fine and door locks have some movement, but do not lock or unlock all the way. Hope we find out the problem.
Yes, you may have to make some kind of bracket to hold the lock solenoid, but you should be able to pull everything else from another gm with power locks, say a 80's cutlass or Monte Carlo, the setup is fairly straight forward. You will also need the proper lock relay and switches from the donor car.
