The general rule of thumb for 2-stroke engines is a fuel:oil ratio of 20:1. It should be noted, however, that if you don't use all the fuel-oil mixture in your tank and leave the motorcycle overnight, most of the oil will settle in the bottom of the tank. This results in a next day ride that will be quite oil-rich for the first part of the ride, with very little oil in the fuel at the end of the ride. It is best to mix oil and fuel in a large plastic container that you can shake to mix both in. Most riders will rock the motorbike to and fro with the front brake engaged to mix the oil in the fuel tank before they ride. For extreme racing conditions, the fuel:oil ratio is usually brought up to 16:1 or 12:1.
