Depends on what year it's from. On an older truck, hook the positive to a positive battery post, hook the ground to a bolt which goes through the chassis. On a newer truck, which is apt to having chassis-mounted electronics, put the ground to the negative battery terminal.

You hook the jumper cables to the jump start posts that are under the hood on the driver side.
To hook up jumper cables, attach one cable from the negative post on one battery to the negative post on the other battery. (These usually are marked "-" and have a blacl cable attached to them.) If your car has a battery and it's dead, you can call a friend who has some jumper cables. You can hook the jumper cables up to his battery and your car's battery. It should create electricity that will renew your battery. If your car does not have a battery, you would have to push it or get it towed.
If it is a twelve volt system then you probably need to hook up two jumper cables one to each if it is really dead. if not just hook up the battery on the driver side.
