The pros and cons of the Industrial Revolution varied. First of all, it changed the life of farming in rural areas to the life of working in factories in the big cities. This led to new working methods. The many workers that had lost their jobs in farming were employed by working in factories. New inventions led to the mass production of food and clothes. For example, the invention of the seed drill helped spread seeds and coverage them more faster and efficiently than doing it by hand, and the invention of the textile mills in factories increased the production of clothes. Thus, making both food and clothes more cheaper and accessible. With the work of factories and mass production in the city, it led to a population increase. But, for all this mass production, it led to a lot more labor. Men, women, and children worked for a long hard hours in the factories. Also, socially, women were to obey men, not giving them any rights themselves. They were encouraged to stay home to care and teach the kids. Because of child labor children couldn't go to school, that is why women were expected to teach their own kids. Besides that, man, women, and child workers were overworked and neglected. Their working conditions were very hazardous. The excessive work led to a shorter life expectancy. The living conditions were poor as well. The houses were poorly constructed and packed. Some lived on the streets. The industrial revolution can be seen as a curse and a blessing because of the bad working conditions, child labor, poor living conditions, and shorter life expectancy. But it can be seen as a blessing as it sparked new inventions, advancements in technology, and mass production. Also during this time, woman fought for their rights and schools were created for an education for the children.
