upper classmen
I knew him for a short time at the air force academy. He was in the class of 1976. I left the academy and do not know anything further. The occasion of our meeting is very memorable. A group of 4th classme (freshmen) were seated at a dining table in Mitchell hall. As is the custom, an upper classmen was asking each of us questions. When he got to CADET White, the upper classmen , obviously noT reading the name tag of the cadet , asked him (white)the names of the appollo astronauts killed in a fire. The 4th classmen (white) answered with the name and rank of Grissom and Chaffee but said simply and "ed white.' The upper classmen pounced on the apparent gaf saying " Good old Ed, huh. Personal friend?" in a sarcastic fashion. Whereupon cadet White said "yes, he was my father." As you may imagine, this had a rather dramatic effect on the personnel at the table. The upper classman was at first skeptical, then embarrassed and appalled. He immdiately put all fourth classmen at rest, apoligized to cadet Whiote and left the dinning hall. For the remainder of the dinner we ate in silence. I remember this vividly because as a fourth classmen dinners were very difficult and this meal was one at which I actually ate as much as I could. I never saw cadet White again because we were in a different cadet squadron, which is one reason the upper classmen, normally in the same squadron as the fourth classmen at his table, did not know cadet white.
Bill Cosby broke racial barriers on TV because he was the first African American who was an upper classmen on TV.
nobles and priests
Royalty, nobles, and the pharaoh.
In the middle ages the king was obviously at the top and the peasants at the bottom so the "Upper Middle Class" would have been comprised of nobles because the nobles were ranked amongst themselves and the lower would have been the less powerful nobles.
property owners
upper (aristocrats), middle (nobles), and lower (commoners).
Some words that rhyme classmen are ass men, past ten, has been, and crass friend. You could probably also use past trend, last yen, or blast them.
