At 8 weeks old, your puppy should be able to eat regular puppy food. Try giving him wet food, or mix his hard food with hot water to make a gravy type of mush. Good luck.
The size portions that a German shepherd puppy eats depend on the size of the puppy and the type of the food being fed. The label on the food will give you a good indication of how much the puppy needs, but in general it needs at least 1 cup of dry food per 10 pounds of body weight.
they eat a wide veriety but mainly puppy chow
At this age it is most likely that the puppy would not be living with its mother anymore, otherwise it would still be feeding from its mother. At 11 weeks of age the puppy can start to eat puppy food that can be bought from vets or pet stores. It is best to not feed to puppy human food, but just the specialised pet food.
Call around and see who sells a puppy food made with real meat(meat should be listed first).Don`t buy a puppy food that has corn wheat soy or meat by-products,these are all fillers and the puppy will want to eat more. The better the food the less the puppy will want to eat. Edit- We have a king charles/ bision frese and he has bakers complete puppy food mixed with chicken. And it is fine. I think it doesn't matter, just the quantly if it's a big dog.

It varies according to weight and the type of food you are feeding him. Look for the feeding guidelines printed on your dog food label and feed according to that. My puppy was on Iams Large Breed - Puppy which had a table on the back showing how much to feed according to age (weeks then months) and weight. I lowered this slightly to prevent him becoming overweight!
It is best to feed them food that is made especially for puppies, and not any human food.
