The Smith and Wesson model K14-3 was produced from 1947-1982. You would need to write into Smith and Wesson with the model and serial number. They can pull the date and send it back to you.
Best to ask a gunsmith for assistance.
Yes Smith and Wesson made a hammerless shotgun. I did read at one time they were the first to do so, but they did not sell a lot of them because of the price back in the late 1800's
first but a bullet in it pull back the hammer and shoot it into your knee
AN UNSAFE MECHANICAL CONDITION THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!

Smith & Wesson
Either send it back to S&W or find a good gunsmith.
Look on the back side of the wooden grips, the month and year should be stamped on one of them.
I sent a email with my S/N which starts with 2K to David Valenze at Smith & Wesson and he emailed me back that based on my S/N it was made in 1970. You can also go to Smith & Wesson web sight and fill out a request to have them send you a letter but it cost $50.00. I used the email it did not cost plus I kept a copy and put with my revolvers other paper work. Here is his email address just sent shot request with Model and S/N.
