Best Answer

In ascending order:

  • Second Lieutenant
  • First Lieutenant
  • Captain
  • Major
  • Lieutenant Colonel
  • Colonel
  • Brigadier General
  • Major General
  • Lieutenant General
  • General
  • General of the Army*

Note that the United States Air Force and United States Marine Corps use the same rank structure for their officers, except for General of the Army. The Air Force does have an equivalent rank (General of the Air Force), but the Marine Corps does not. General of the Army/General of the Air Force/Admiral of the Navy is a special wartime rank, and is not normally in use during peacetime.
