The Jagannatha (Lord Vishnu), one the three main Deities of the Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh) generally resides within the Temple throughout the year but once every year during the month of Ashaadh (Rainy Season - June) is brought out on a massive Chariot (Rath) so that the public can see or meet (Darshana) the Lord. The procession is known as Rath Yatra.
