· 2. Energy Flow Through Ecosystems Food contains nutrients and energy needed for survival. Matter and Energy 3 When one organism is food for another organism, some of the energy in the first organism (the food) is transferred to the second organism (the eater).

Matter and Energy 3 The nitrogen then moves back to the atmosphere or directly into producers again. Phosphorus, sulfur, and other elements needed by living organisms also are used and returned to the environment.

An example of how energy moves through our ecosystem is by the wind flowing through flowers which have pollination which carries pollen to other flowers which pollinates The other plants and it also helps the bees collect the pollination to make honey
Decomposers are organisms that feed on decaying matter.
If you're on Study Island this is the answer. Bacteria that decompose dead matter and recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem.
