go to radio shack or auto parts store and get what looks like heavy gage wire (2 of them come in a pack) it is a radio removal tool. insert them into the holes on the face of the radio and push them in until they wont go any farther. that releases the lock then you should be able to pull the radio out

I have a 1995 contour and all I used was a pair of ford radio removal clips. They look something like 2 inch horseshoes with small connectors on the end. They are inserted into the four holes in the radio to unlock it and then just pull it out. At first I talked the Ford dealer to unlock it, but ended up buying a set at an auto supply store. Mine have worked on the 95 Contour, 2002 F150 and 2005 Ranger. Each auto manufacturer has different unlocking devices.
