Steps to replacing 1997 Mercedes-Benz C280 ignition switch?
a There are coil "pack" for ignition. 6" pack" carburetors.
the ignition module on a buick park avenue is under the coil pack which is on the front left side of motor. its where the plugs plug into coil pack. the ignition module is the part that is underneath the coil pack. You will need a star tool to remove the 6 star screws. in order to remove the whole thing their are 3 i belive 7mm nuts under neath the whole thing these also need to be removed. you then unplug the coil pack from the ignition module in order to replace it . be sure to get the wires hooked up in sequence or it may not start.
3.0 L and 4.0 L V6 coil----3---4 pack---2---6 plug----1---5
1)Remove ignition wires( marking them so you know which order to replace them), 2)remove 4 Allen head screws, 3)disconnect all wiring plugs. Reverse directions for replacement.
Its on the top of the engine at the right front... coils and ignition module are together. Follow the plug wires, away from the spark plugs, where they will connect into the coil pack. The ignition module is sandwiched under the coil pack. To remove either... remove the three nuts under the ignition module and the six torx screws on top of the coil pack.... voila. After market new modules (10/2010) cost $98-134 at Carquest Auto Parts. OEM Delco module cost New from B&B Auto parts $ 360 Good Luck

On the Ford Explorer that has the EDIS ignition system ( Electronic Distributorless Ignition System ) instead of a distributor it has a coil pack with 6 coil pack towers for the V6 engine

The Bad Pack was created in 1997.
It is located underneath the coils. on the fire wall side of the engine, appears that is best to remove the 3 larger nuts and remove the crank sensor caddy with the ignition and coils as an assembly as it is too difficult to reassemble the pack on the block
