If you mean the big air filter housing which covers the top of the engine (with the oil filler coming through it) then the answer is that it just pulls off. There are no screws, bolts or clips, so just pull it up firmly at each corner until it comes free of the air intake and its mounting studs, then detach the one rubber tube and place the air filter aside.
This answer refers to the case on my Skoda Fabia 1.4 16v, year 2003.
