First of all, it requires two batteries, not one. The part number for both batteries in 99% of the popular brands is CR2025 or DL2025.
To remove the battery cap on the remote, flip the remote to the back side and place your thumb under the section closest to the keyring (not closet to the key itself, the other side. Lift this section away from the rest of the remote. Do not worry, you are not going to break it, unless you are a behemoth. Inside you will find two batteries, and yes, they are both dead.
When replacing the batteries, note the tines on the top of the battery well. The batteries must be carefully placed under those tines. On not force or lift those in any way as they are the positive side of the batteries connection. Clip the rear cover back on and you have successfully completed the task. Good luck and good day.
