Has he perhaps eaten something that he shouldn't have? I've had this happen about 3-5 times before and usually the case is that the rooster ate something he shouldn't have and is undergoing symptoms with it. Most got through it quickly within the day and went on normally, only one of my roosters has ever actually gotten completely sick and remained helpless on the ground. Monitor his actions and if he continues to wobble around or gets worse, consider calling a vet.

Check the beak of the chicken for mucus build up wipe crusty mucus away with warm water and a soft cloth to help the chicken breath. Check the chickens vent to see if fecal matter is loose and sticking to the tail feathers. Dysentery will dehydrate a hen quickly. Separate the chicken from the rest of the flock as soon as possible as the other members of the flock will dispatch a sick hen as soon as they show signs of weakness. Keep the hen warm, dry and well supplied with fresh water.
