this sounds like a timing issue to me. your engine will try to compensate for it but isnt 100% if you have a timing chain, then this is probably your problem, if you have timing belt, then you might have slipped a notch which is not too rare, but less likely then an old timing chain going bad. this is the only cause i can think is most likely your problem, other than internal engine parts going bad which i highly doubt, so check out the timing belt or chain if the chain isnt 100% tight, then you need to replace it before it does permanent damage.
It could be any number of things. Start by checking basic tuning, check and clean spark plugs, check timing. Inspect for air leaks. Do a compression test.
My idle was running rough and slight loss of power (5 cylinder engine). The power loss is more noticeable on cars with less cylinders.
Power brakes use engine vacuum to get their power. If the engine is out of tune, the loss of vacuum will cause it to run rough. Try changing the spark plugs.
Loss of power, missing, rough idle, check engine light,
One of the symptoms of a bad boil pack is a rough idle. Other symptoms include a loud engine, loss of power, and a check engine light that goes on and off.
Excessive valve clatter, loss of power, loss of performance, loss of fuel mileage, rough idle,
Re-build your diesel. Put on a custom chip and that will make up for engine power loss.
Check engine light, low power, no start, runs rough, bent valves,Check engine light, low power, no start, runs rough, bent valves,
Loss of power, poor fuel economy, stalling, rough idle, engine may overheat, and you may hear a blowing sound when accelerating.
You may have a blown head gasket, or less likely a cracked engine block. In either case, some symptoms are a loss of power/ rough running engine and white exhaust smoke.
What does reduce engine power means?
Yes
It will run rough and be hard to start. Fuel consumption will probably increase. Other signs include check engine light coming on, stalling, loss of power on hills...
