To get strength, you basically have to fight a lot. My personal suggestion is that if you are a member, you do Slayer tasks - this is simply to train one more skill, namely Slayer. Also, many Slayer monsters have good drops, making it potentially quite profitable. However, this is not specifically to train Strength; rather, I suggest that you adapt your combat style (melee, ranged, or magic) to the weakness of each particular monster that you are assigned. That way, you'll train all three combat styles. Of course it is still possible to use only melee combat for most Slayer monsters, it just isn't the fastest way to kill them. Also note that if you want to be good at melee combat, you should train not just Strength (which increases the maximum damage you cause) but also Attack (which increases the likelihood of a successful hit), and Defense (which reduces the likelihood that you are damaged, and therefore reduces the average damage you get per second). Defense is also useful when you use other combat styles.
