A particle in an atom is a tiny piece of anything.

It is a function word that can be used in English to form phrasal verbs.

It is also a body having finite mass and internal structure but negligible dimensions.

'Particle' is quite a general term.

In terms of particle-physics, it usually refers to a proton/ neutron, but can refer to any small component.

Usually, electrons/ positrons/ any other leptons are refered to as such, because they're fundamental (at the moment, we don't know how to split these up further).

It describes and explains physics of particles starting from creation and annihilation, and ending by interaction in different fields (electromagnetic, gluon and so on) with different fields and particles (electrons, neutrons, neutrinos).

I don't think the particle model is hard to accept for grade 7 students because I was one last year. I'm not sure if you mean it's hard to accept because of religion or hard to accept because it is so counter intuitive?

Compare wave and particle models of light. What phenomena can only be explained by the particle model?

What does the word gas mean in science?

In science, a gas is a state of matter. Using particle theory, we can describe a gas. Particles in a gas are free to move and diffuse to areas of lower concentration (of their particles). They have the highest average energy per particle and have no regular arrangement.

The particle model of light explains how light can?

The particle model explains compton scattering and the photo-electric effect perfectly, which the wave model utterly fails to do. The full spectrum of blackbody radiation can be easily derived with the particle model of light, but not with the wave model.
