Rao, in a book entitled 'Lothal', published by Archaelogical Survey of India (1985) records: "Terracotta model of a horse is significant as it supports the zoologists' identification of horse bones at Lothal." - Vasant Dave, Vadodara. Sandor Bokonyi, a biologist who specializes in equines, identified large numbers of bones found at Indus Valley sites as bones of true horses, not donkeys or other equines.
